Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders

Boys are approximately three times as likely to be diagnosed with ADD or ADHD as girls.

  • Diagnoses of ADD & ADHD have increased among children under the age of seven, including diagnoses of toddlers.

  • Boys are diagnosed with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders at a rate nearly twice that of girls.

  • Boys are diagnosed with mental retardation at a rate nearly 1/3 higher than that of girls.

  • Approximately 50% more boys are diagnosed with speech impairments than girls.
